installing kicker arm on 40's Chief

i used a socket. however if your kicker crank is hitting the muffler either the kickstart crank pin is loose worn and or the kickstart crank is out of round. otherwise this is going to keep on happening until you sort out the problem.

i have a 5 lb brass hammer and a 2 lb lead hammer take off the grease fitting and get a socket that is as big as the shaft but one that fits squarely on the snap ring give it a sharp blow it should go on. I have also got an extra pair of hands and holding the ring in place with my thumb and using a flat punch walked the ring around by having someone else do the hammering.
