Chief toolbox, was it always fitted?

Hi

I have a 46 Chief, needs restoration.  I have figured that it has been restored before, being 69 years old, perhaps not too surprising!

I quite like the basic look, black front crash bars, no rear crash bars, no rack, no spotlights, etc.

Currently it has original looking steel fenders, but, clearly not original ones, as no holes drilled for side trims, front fender light, or toolbox.

I really don't think the toolbox helps with the simple look.  Does anyone know if the base model had it?  Was it ever omitted?  Ditto front fender tip trim?

Does anyone have any dimensions for drilling the mounting holes for the front fender light?

I am going with the streamline light, who does the best version?

Any clues on tank badges?  Ideally would like some originals.

Lots of questions!

Thanks

Nic

Not sure about 1946, but my '48 Chief never had a tool box.

What is "Vintage Iron" and how do I find that website?  My club's name is "Vintage Iron Riders."  Our website URL is www.virmc.com.

Hi

Vintage Iron is just a subset of the Indian Motorcycle Community, another forum.  Seems there are several.
