Can anyone tell me where I would find the Vehicle ID for a 1942 Indian Chief?

The engine number is on the left engine case and should start with CDB. The frame number is on the left near the rear axle where the plunger bottom mounts. It should start with 342 and if numbers match it will be followed by three or four numbers which are the same as those following the CDB numbers on the engine.
